Deborah Williams runs Reality Productions, an
independent production company based in London, and has over thirty years
experience working across the sector as an artist, consultant and manager.
Deborah is an established leader in disability arts, playing a significant role
in the implementation of the Disability Discrimination Act in the cultural
sector for the past 15 years.

She is known as an artist provocateur having
won awards and nominations nationally and internationally. Her work in theatre
is acknowledged as a catalyst for challenge and change in perceptions of
disability and difference.

 “The word I would say that best sums up the day for me is
‘relevant’. After the past few years of being ignored and having doors shut in
my face, hitting all the glass ceilings that you can imagine – I spent one day
sitting in a chair talking about myself, interacting with a public who really
didn’t know who I was, and I felt relevant. I was just overwhelmed by the
amount of people who came in, the work that they created and the conversations
that we had. The best thing of all was to see the work that Tanya produced, me
with my over weightiness in all my glory. It’s a great piece already and I
can’t wait to see the finished product.”
