Disability, Civil and Human Rights Activist

Simone Aspis is a Campaigner and Policy Coordinator for the Alliance
for Inclusive Education, which campaigns for the rights of all disabled
learners to participate in mainstream education. She was the campaign worker for; United Kingdom’s Disabled Peoples Council and People
First. She was successful in achieving inclusion for people with learning
difficulties to the issues of disability discrimination and direct payments, as well as fighting against Welfare and mental health reform legislation.
Additionally, she has worked on disabled people’s equal rights
to life campaigns with Not Dead Yet. She is on Transport for London’s
Independent Disability Advisory Group and is also the Director of Changing
Perspectives, an organisation which provides training and consultancy services
on disabled people’s issues. She has also completed a PHD in Education – social
justice, and qualifications at King’s College, London University.
