The Medieval Sitting DukA reported Story of a Man, alias Claude De Tomus, who comes from the 21st Century, but is being sent back in time to live in Medieval Britain because of the governmental welfare cuts and reforms effecting all of us…… HERE and NOW! the Mayor of MuchWenlock, Lesley Durbin sits live for here portrait by Tanya RaabeCollaboration between Tanya Raabe acclaimed artist and painter of people, Andy Dukes the sitter alias ‘Claude De Tomus’, subject of The Medieval Sitting Duk, Jane Wilson assemblage artist and maker and the sitter at M21 the Mayor of Much Wenlock, Lesley Durbin. The Medieval Sitting Duk is part of M21 DASH festival and has been commissioned by the Unlimited programmed, part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad to celebrate the inspiration of the Olympic and Paralympic games.ArtworksFrom a series of six live portrait sittings three paintings emerged evoking a dark yet rich triptych of images. When the paintings were combined with reclaimed paraphernalia they grew into a ‘grace’ of assemblages. This provides the viewer with a series of metaphors born out of a story of our times set in Medieval Britain that carries the values of a 21st century government. ‘Living in a Disabling World’.
